LOCKHART BASIN CLASSIC 3 DAY TOUR
Intermediate to Advanced
High Desert elevations; 6000’-4000’
Lockhart Basin lies to the southeast of Canyonlands and the Colorado River and is a perfect next trip for those who have done the White Rim Trail, and have only three days to escape the pavement. The ride starts with some wide, improved dirt road cruising to get warmed up, and then right before our first night’s camp the trail gets a little rougher demanding a little more attention and giving you an idea of the following day’s more technical terrain including climbs, dry wash crossings, loose descents and exquisite views. This route follows a rugged 60-mile jeep road that keeps the surprises coming. Packed dirt, slickrock, loose rubble and even some sand – everything you expect in a great day of remote desert riding.
Our 3-day Lockhart Basin tour is suitable for intermediate through advanced riders who are in good physical condition, enjoy technical, rocky terrain and are comfortable riding 4 – 6 hours a day. When you’re ready for a backcountry mountain bike tour with intricate canyons, towering walls, ancient ruins and rock art, then Lockhart Basin is the trip for you; rugged, remote, and beautiful!
